Anti-Rodent Assemblies
Radius offer a range of anti-rodent constructions which feature rodent deterrent properties and/or a physical barrier against rodent attacks. Our anti-rodents microducts are suitable for Direct burial.
Basic Level Protection
A Chilli-Based compound is incorporated in the sheath and/or microducts polymer and acts as a deterrent.
High-Level Protection
A Glass Fibre Layer is incorporated into the assembly to deter and protect against physical attacks.
Heavy Duty Protection
A corrugated steel armour layer provides an impenetrable barrier against rodents.
All Radius microducts feature our low friction and low static permanent inner layer which delivers class leading cable blowing performance. In addition, our microducts can be supplied with either smooth or ribbed inner walls according to your preference.
What is Low Friction coating?
A solid layer of lubricant is evenly distributed on the inner wall by coextrusion as part of the manufacturing process, providing a permanent low friction and low static surface which lasts for the life of the duct.
Low friction values allow quicker installation and optimal blowing distances. Radius microduct offers superior blowing performance in this market.
Low Friction Matters
The blowing distance achieved is directly related to a number of factors including : cable to duct area fill ratio (we recommend 50 to 60% ideally but no more than 70%); weight of cable; pressure used, route difficulty (bends and gradients) and last but not least the Coefficient of Friction (CoF) from the microduct inner lining.
The contribution of the microduct inner lining to achieving speed of installation and longer blowing distances should not be underestimated. A quality lining should have the right combination of low CoF and low static for optimum results and for that reason, not all linings are created equal.

Anti-Rodent Chilli Sheath Compound
Utilises a chili-based additive incorporated into the sheathing and/or microduct materials to give the product rodent-deterrent properties.
Anti-Rodent with Glass-fibre Layer
This construction comprises several low friction microducts, a polyethylene sheath, a layer of high-tensile fiberglass reinforcement and finally a polyethylene sheath. The fiberglass reinforcement is a rodent deterrent and barrier and provides additional resistance to tensile loads and on-site handling.
Anti-Rodent Armoured Construction
A heavy-duty construction consisting of several microducts surrounded with an aluminium moisture barrier, a thin polyethylene sheath, a corrugated steel armour layer and a heavy-duty polyethylene sheath.
The stainless steel armour layer acts as both an impenetrable physical barrier and provides additional resistance to tensile loads and on-site handling. Option to include anti-rodent sheath compound.
