Business Development Manager (Scotland)

Roles and Responsibilities:
Business Growth and Strategy
- Identify new business opportunities, markets, and partnerships to drive revenue growth.
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans.
- Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitors, and potential customer needs.
- Manage and prioritise leads to convert them into sales opportunities.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with current and potential clients.
- Understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions that meet their business objectives.
- Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure satisfaction and resolve any issues promptly.
Sales and Lead Generation
- Develop a sales pipeline and track progress towards business development goals.
- Qualify and prioritize leads, setting up meetings and presentations.
- Negotiate contracts and close deals to meet revenue targets.
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and customer support teams to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
- Monitor and report on business development performance, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM system.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales, preferably in the cables and telecoms industry.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in B2B sales and client relationship management.
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation, persuasion, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and exploit new business opportunities.
- Familiarity with CRM software.
- Analytical and research-oriented mindset.
- Strong presentation and proposal development skills.
Personal Attributes:
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and driven to succeed.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- High level of organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Adaptable to changing business environments.
Work Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Ability to attend trade shows, conferences, or other industry events as required.
Preferred Skills, qualifications & Educational Requirements:
- CRM functionality and effective use
- Knowledge of the Industry and/or Radius Systems products and services
- Knowledge and experience of export procedures ideally within the utilities industry
- Enthusiasm for driving positive change and process optimisation.
- A naturally good manager, with a tenacious aptitude for new business development customer relationship management, ongoing customer service and contract management.
- Strong strategic thinker with good lateral vision.
- Self-motivated autonomous worker but have a real team ethos and belief in supporting colleagues to drive new business development and the company forward.
- Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise a wide variety of tasks.
- Strong personality – confident and outgoing with good communication skills.
- Ability to plan and anticipate requirements, communicating effectively at each stage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential with the flexibility to deal with individuals at all levels – good customer facing skills.
- Ability to problem solve when challenges or concerns arise.
- Ability to provide focussed and reliable market development and customer reporting.
- A flexible attitude towards travel and working hours is essential, as is a full driving licence.
- Excellent IT and keyboard skills with a sound working knowledge of all MS Office applications.
